Well last October i had a super last minute impromptu trip to Taipei. To be honest it was an awesome getaway for me, a lot of fun, food and awesome scenery.
Many of you especially fans of Rilakkuma out there would have already heard that there is a new Rilakkuma Cafe in Taipei!
And i know many of you are waiting for a review on it as it's hard to find any english reviews or any tourist reviewing about this place as it's often fully booked. But i got access to it somehow and i'm going to share it with you guys! Sharing is loving :)
It recently opened its doors on 1st September 2015. Ever since then the internet went crazy about it. As we all know, the power of internet, when something this cute goes viral, it's going to get a lot of attention. Ever since it first opened its doors, reservation slots for the cafe are often fully booked even one to two months before hand! Yes, that's how difficult it is to get into the Rilakkuma Cafe! But well, i found a way to get in somehow and i'll share the tip at the end of the post, so keep reading! :)
So what's so interesting about this cafe that makes everyone go 'awww, i need to get there!' , well here are some photos of my trip there.
This is the super pretty door front of the cafe, makes it so easy for us to spot the cafe from far!
The super cute 3d size mascot, was so lucky that when i got there, this mascot just got sent back to the cafe after getting repaired!
When you stepped into the cafe, you will see this super kawaii gift corner on your right hand side! Right in front of this shelves, there is another counter whereby more gifts were showcased to the customers....
So we finally got a seat and there was this super kawaii Korillakuma on the chairs! I just took it up and hugged it throughout my whole visit there. hahahaha! :D
And yes, the coasters are all shaped in Rilakkuma's head! I actually brought it home with me to keep as a souvenir! *auntie*
This is the photo of the pretty menu...
Even the cutlery and plates are all in the theme of Rilakkuma and friends!
Here's the photo of the place, the ambience was not bad, super cozy, just like you're in Rilakkuma's home!
This is the mural on top of the table, i was rather surprised that these murals are coming off already, because when i visited the cafe, it was only a month after they first opened it's doors, wonder why the murals wear off so fast... hmmm.
Here's the other side of the cafe.
So after i ordered my food, i decided to walk around and go to the restrooms to wash up a little.
And guess what? When i was on the way to the restroom,i saw this super cute corner~!
Look at the sofa and the three Rilakkuma and Friends plush toys?! OMG KAWAII!!
Just in case you guys are wondering, yes, you guys can take photos with the plush toys while seated on the sofa if you want to! :)
So i went on to the restroom and look at how pretty it looked?
It looked as though you've stepped into Rilakkuma's cosy home!!
Look at those super kawaii Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma soap dispensers!! I so want to bring them home hehehe.
So when i observed further i saw that the wallpaper of the restroom had mini rilakkuma prints on it too!
And now here are the photos of the food!
Rilakkuma Japanese Katsu Curry Rice!
Look at how cute it is omg!
Rilakkuma Mushroom Cream Set!
Aww, it looked as though Rilakkuma is swimming in milky way hehehe
Look closer and you'll find that even the carrots are in the shape of Rilakkuma's head!
Cut open the Rilakkuma head and the cheese will ooze out! umm, cheese lovers this is the perfect dish for you!
My personal opinion is that i would prefer the mushroom cream sauce dish as the katsu in the katsu curry dish was rather dry and oily. But overall the food it's not bad, perhaps a 8/10? It's extremely filling as they use glutinous rice instead of normal rice for their dishes. Well i guess that's to ensure that Rilakkuma's head and body stay together ahahah T.T
Now it's time to show you guys some photos of the drinks and desserts!
The latte
The lychee lime cooler, this is super good and check out the cute ice cube in the shape of Rilakkuma's friend!!
Look at how cute and pretty their desserts look! Don't you have the urge to buy them all home?
Yes, how can a cafe not have macarons? How about Rilakkuma imprinted ones?
The super kawaii dessert counter!
Rilakkuma Chocolate Cheesecake!
Korilakkuma Strawberry Cheesecake!
Korillakuma Fruit Cake!
Look at the 3D cakes! It's so precious!
Aww, the puddings!
Now i had the cheesecake and to be honest, it's not as nice as it looks though, but well, buy to feast my eyes also worth it la, hehehehe.
And well, that's all the photos that i've got!
So i should say that i had an awesome experience over at this cafe! The ambience and food was okay, service was rather good as well. However, the dessert was bad, to be honest. Now here's how i rate the cafe....
Ambience: 9/10
Food (Mains): 8/10
Dessert & Drinks: 7/10
Service: 8.5/10
Price: 8/10
Overall i would recommend that everyone that's traveling to Taiwan should go over to this cafe if you're nearby and or if you're a huge Rilakkuma fan!! The price is quite reasonable.
And now, here's what many of you have been waiting for, tips on how to get a space in the Rilakkuma Cafe without any reservation or having to 'fight' for slots online....
As the cafe opens at 11am daily, i would recommend you to travel to the cafe at 1030am and register on their waiting list as walk in. After which go and walk around the vicinity, make sure you get back to the cafe at 10.55am and start to wait for the good news to see if you're able to enter. Most of the time, you'll manage to secure a place to dine in there as many people will tend to 'book first' and back out later.
Another tip to heighten your chance to gain entry to this super high in demand cafe is to walk in on a weekday instead of a weekend.
Their website and some bloggers claim that they do not take in walk-ins, but well, i've tried it and it worked....i mean who doesn't want to fill their cafe up right? Especially if their reservation guests backed out.
But also if you guys wish to try to make reservation, you guys can do it online 3 months in advance here.
And last but not least, this is the address and directions to the Rilakkuma Cafe!!
